Another rest day chilling out with Oliver and Samantha, off to the markets to get some meat from one of the oldest meat markets in Canada the Bon Ton Meat Market founded in 1921.
Bought some of the local meats to try; elk and bison which both cooked up a treat and tasted great. Met a few more of the kid's friends; Christina, Eduardo and their daughter Gabby and introduced them to a Tim Tam slam, which I think they fell in love with. After lunch and the visitor had left we played a few new card games and a had a nice refreshing glass of Icewine.
Later in the day we lit up the fire pit where Samantha and Oliver introduced us to S'mores a traditional camp fire treat in America and Canada. A s'more (short for some more) is traditionally a marshmallow that has been roasted over a fire then placed between two Graham crackers with a layer of chocolate. It didn't take long to set the first couple of marshmallows alight as the fire was a bit hot but once we had the toasting down pat there were many golden marshmallows being squished between chocolate and biscuits and being quickly devoured.
Smoke and marshmallow ablaze |
We did a bit of planning for bed for the next day's day trip to Drumheller to see the worlds largest dinosaur, a 26.2 m high fibreglass T-Rex and to also visit the Royal Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum.
